Will no longer connect to my Garmin RV 760 GPS. Please fix this app.
This app. worked great on my 6 Plus…… when I upgraded to the 6S Plus it no longer connects.
It work for 30 days or less dont waste your money if you live close to the city dont need it Im truck driver and only show traffic when you are getting closer to the cities like. Atlanta g,a Houston t,x Dallas t,x Charlotte n,c Washington D,c Jacksonville f,l Miami f,l Or some other average sizes cities if your gps show traffic is the same with smart link my advise to you is get google map Ill show you live traffic free and never expire.
It disconnects all the time, not my phone issue, my headset and radio stay connected constantly. Usually have to power it down and restart it. Then some times connects and disconnects within seconds. Not to mention have to go in and manually connect to GPS thru the settings on my phone, none of my other electronics do this, they connect on their own. Navigation is also a joke, faster setting will take routes that are longer in time than shortest.
The Bluetooth connection drops in and out from my Nüvi 2699 with my IPhone 6+ resting in the passenger seat when using the Smart Link app. Every other time I use the app, I have to forget device in Bluetooth settings then re-pair to get data to flow correctly. When it works it shows temperature and the generic weather app. I bought the $4.99 Weather Alerts option which (when connection is working) shows an alert icon in the upper right corner of the GPS. Also you need to keep open the app on the phone and open the Weather Alerts section inside the app. To see the radar map on the GPS you have to go to the main menu, select Apps, scroll down to Smart Link, open, select device (iPhone), then select Advanced Weather...which is a pain in the wazoo while driving or otherwise. Good concept, poor execution.
So frustrated. The Bluetooth will not stay connected. Its faster to look up the address in my phone and type it in. Not even kidding. I love the idea of this app but it is a gigantic FAIL.
Been trying to get Garmin to fix this thing for a year and a half. Garmin has a deaf ear to the problems. Anybody know of an iPhone app that layers weather over the map?
Is there a reason I cant enter an address directly from the smart link app? When using this app it feels like having multiple pieces of puzzles that never really fit with each other. I found better luck using separate apps instead. For map overlay I use MyRadar app For traffic cam I use Inrix app
Why this application works so bad and nobody answer this a shame for garmin ,I bought 2 suscriptions !!!!I just cant used !!!!do not downloaded.its HORRIBLE
After talking to Garman they tell me this app Garman 660 is not compatible with my iPhone. Wow shame on Garman they said someday it might be compatible Might be compatible?
I agree with other reviews that the design and usability of the app is poor. I like the fact that the app links to my Garmin and provides updates but for a navigation app there should be an easy way to look up and save addresses other than using a google earth style map. Its a navigation app. Come on!
I use this app with Garmin Nuvi 2600 series GPS device. Was interested in Foursquare connection, but can only search locations. Wish I could access my personal Foursquare lists and send to my GPS device
What everyone else has said. On my BMW Motorrad Nav 5 the only function that works reliably is the Weather Radar. Which is good. The apps on the Nav 5, specifically the Tracker app, has never been able to connect to the iPhone6S (iOS9). It’s a shame that a company like Garmin would allow all these situations to exist.
Bluetooth (iPhone 6, v 9.2) connects to my new 2689 fine, but the Smartlink app itself refuses to acknowledge the pairing. I only get an error message saying to pair it or move in-range (it is right beside me). Garmin needs to hire some folks that understand Bluetooth. I have their Forerunner 220 watch as well and it also is very selective about when it wants to connect. Complaints are rampant about that as well, so it isnt my phone or technical competence. Just half-baked, poorly tested programming and all of the complaints seem to fall on deaf ears at Garmin because they do not address them in updates. You also have to manually pair your phone to the Garmin each time you want to use the app (if it worked)... Cant just hop in the car and be automatically connected. As for the app itself, it is hard to review since the core functionality doesnt work, but one big gap in my opinion is that you evidently cant search for locations that arent nearby... For example, if I am in City "x" and want to send a few waypoints to the GPS that are not in City "x", no can do. Cant imagine why they would have limited it like that, but not incredibly surprising at this point. This is my third Garmin GPS. The 2689 seems to be a nice unit.... My Forerunner watch is also a nice device. Garmins attempts to tie them to the outside world are (or should be) downright embarrassing. The rest of the world seems to be able to accomplish it, so Im not sure why Garmin struggles so much in this area.
Bluetooth connects but apps do not appear.
Do not buy any Garmin unit if you have an IPhone and expect this loser app to work. I now have 3 Garmin boat anchors that absolutely will not connect with my IPhone on a regular basis. In fact, they rarely connect at all. Wonder if Garmin ever does quality control on any of their products. I think not! I would have given the app and Garmin a 0 star rating if allowed.
Dear garmin, I just wanted to be able to paste the addresses I get from email. Really simple. And no, I dont create a contact for every place I plan to stop. Very disappointed since thats one of the reasons I bought this model. Ill check the app reviews first next time... Lesson learned. Most people dont give two $h!t$ about foursquare or any of the other crap in this app. And why do I have to give the app access to my location? Thats what the gps I bought was for. No, I dont want to give you my location when im not using the app. Explain why and you might convince me... But that sounds like bs to me.
Worked fine on iOS 9.1 with my Kenwood DNX571HD. Updated to iOS 9.2 and my device (iPhone 6) is no longer identified thus making it useless. Cmon Garmin. Its been a month since iOS 9.2 was officially released! Lets see an app update....
Gps works great. Smart link loses connection all the time. I paid for all the traffic, weather, and photo enforcement add-ons and like to use them!! Please fix!
This app is useless on iOS iPhone 6s Plus and the 3597. CONSTANTLY loses connection with the Garmin after a minute. In a word, crap.
