Doesn’t do much

I was really hoping this would work and allow communication between my iPhone 14 and my gps. Total bomb. Crashes. Can’t view traffic by map or program just goes away and closes. Very disappointing to say the least. I would think a company that makes good, reliable gps would have a good interface. Nope. Falls flat on its face.

I got a Garmin 7inch GPS from 2019 but it won’t connect to the smart link like it used to years ago but I updated my GPS to the latest update I have data on my phone but this not smart link won’t connect when was the last update for this software?

Any time the app selection for traffic map is selected the app crashes and closes.

I guess the last time this was updated was about the time that I spent $$$$ on this device. Gives traffic updates in the middle of construction, can’t tell you that I 40 is closed in Ashville. And you cannot connect the older gps to the newer app? Been very frustrating 5 1/2 years.

Hasn’t worked for years

This app was last updated 4 years ago. Please consider making an update for 2024 to be more useful.

This app wont find destinations that are nit in my immediate area. Thats useless.

Live track used to work well, but now there’s a bug in it that keeps you looped to “enter your name” and “consent to sharing.” You have to close the app to get out of the loop.

Connecting to your iphone is it or miss. Unreliable to say the least. Rarely will send address to my device

Just out of the blue the app quit connecting to my garmin dezl truck gps. Having the live traffic was handy. I have done resets on my phone and the gps. Did not help. Uninstalled the app and reinstalled the app. Did not help. Can you all please correct this for me

Maybe it is regional or a license issue but when installed it want even show an option selection for watch link

No updates for four years?

I can’t connect to my 2595LMT from iPhone 8. I was able to connect from android pixel though. Can you please update the app?

I can sent the location ( delivery and pick up ) directly from my iPhone to gps ! Developers please improve this part of app ( sent location from sms phone to gps) . right now i need to introduce the map coordinates in app for search tehe location. wil be smarter if it will work directly with adress

Loosing connection and having problem to connect to the navigator

As a 27 year semi driver I fought the gps era as long as I could and about 15 years ago I got my first garmin and I have been a lifelong Garmin user since, but this Smartlink idea was a huge swing and a miss!! I was super excited to get my first Garmin for truckers and I have been completely disappointed with both of the trucker versions I have had!! My old Garmin had the traffic updates already on it, no need for an app to link with to get updates or alerts which was WAY more convenient but I couldn’t ever update my maps for free, I always had to call in and pay for the update so I bought a new device, well it went from bad to worse. Now to get any traffic alerts or updates a have to download this app, well with this app anytime I close the app, shut my garmin down, lose cell service, or walk away from the truck I have to “forget this device” on my phone and completely re pair it with the Garmin which is SUPER convenient when you’re driving down the road to lose any traffic information!! I’ve also noticed that even with updating my maps there are still a lot of “unknown addresses” even though my Apple and Google maps find the addresses with no problem whatsoever. I have owned 4 Garmin devices and I never thought I’d give up on them, but with this device it may very well be the last one I ever buy, my $30 Rand McNally atlas is just as much help finding directions and since the Garmin doesn’t help with traffic 90% of the time it’s basically a $500 waste of money! I can use my Apple or Google maps and get up to date traffic information which is more than my Garmin does and I don’t have to buy a separate device! Shame on you Garmin, I expect better out of you than what I can get with a $30 atlas and my smartphone!!

This Smartlink app needs more schooling or call it something else besides SMARTlink. Sometimes I’m spending 20-30 minutes trying to get it to link up together. When it does link up it works good for awhile. CAN NOT depend on it. I have WI-FI in my truck and I loved to have it link d to it instead of Bluetooth. Cause if I get out of it he truck to go to the shipper or receiver or in the truck stop, 90% of the time it’s not gonna hook up again for awhile. 😡

This thing stinks does not connect to my iPhone 14 only android. I will lot buy another Garmin ever

Worst; terrible provider. Once was the best. 4 Garmins with life time subscriptions no longer in my inventory. Targets for the firing range even the one I bought a few weeks ago.

I bought the Weather Alerts upgrade and when opening it it shows you are in an area not supported, the middle of the ocean. Then I moved it the the USA and it shows alerts for Kentucky but nothing for Ohio. In Ohio we have a tornado warning and 3 severe thunderstorm warnings. I only lost about 5.00 for the purchase but more importantly I can not trust it for weather information.

I used this app for years and suddenly it stopped working correctly. Get stuck on consent and cannot get past it. No dispatch following now. Maybe you could roll it back Garmin.

This app really needs improvement. I have a garmin dezel gps and it works great but this app for it is the worse thing I have ever had to deal with.

Obviously Garmin doesn’t care about its customers. The app has not been updated in several years. It’s no longer possible to send an address to a GPS that used to work. Extremely disappointing. Stop buying (and thus wasting your money) Garmin

I connected by Bluetooth to smart link but it’s showing it’s not connected to get live traffic I can talk and receive phone call by garmın but it’s not working that’s not good Plz update yr app

No updates. Wont connect I’ve deleted and re downloaded. Still nothing.

Even though this app is old and hasn’t been updated in some time, I gave this 3 stars because most things still work with my zumo 595lm. However the app could definitely use an update. The Weather Alerts don’t work, giving a “Service not authorized for the current location.” I’m not sure what that’s about, as the U.S. should be an authorized location. And Pick Location does not affect the search bar when you’re trying to search for something in that location. Please update the app to get everything working.

It is inconvenient for use with car gps. You need start it every time when you want connect your gps navigator.

Sending coordinate it’s no longer accurate like before also linking up always buggy seems like they stopped updating this app for last 4 years like 0 support what so ever

I cannot get traffic info on this app. Twice this week I’ve been through heavy traffic with traffic stopped at times. My google map showed the traffic but Garmin did not.

Only gave it 5 stars so the developer can come back and update the app. Nobody uses Foursquare anymore and the navigation can be unreliable, update maps? It’s been 84 years….

The maps app only searches where it “thinks” the phone is… which is wrong most of the time. Even EXPLICIT addresses are ignored if they are not near where the phone thinks it is. How can Garmin make such defective software, or am I missing something?

Have you stopped supporting live traffic for the garmin 61?

This is a well known name/company, so why does this seem so outdated? I can’t pair to phone due to the fact the keyboard doesn’t show up to actually type the pairing code. The graphics within the app are so 80’s, like I’m playing Atari or Early NES. Not impressed. Time to update! 🙏

This app is useless don’t download it you will regret it it has no useful features and doesn’t work Garmin should be ashamed to be associated with it.

My live traffic not working 😡

Update 5/08/2023 App not connecting at all now. Bluetooth will connect but not data. So no traffic no weather. I’ve tried restarting phone and reinstalling app but no luck. Complete Garbage I think it’s pretty shady on Garmins part to stop supporting and updating this app when millions of people are still using older GPS devices. There seems to be a cutoff somewhere around 2018-2019 on devices that can run the Drive app vs this smart link app. This app constantly freezes my device on top of poor UI. The absolute definition of planned obsolescence! Change apps and stop updating the old app. Additionally, make sure the old devices cannot run the new app.

I like how easy it is to use but address search is limited to nearby. I have to save addresses under my contact To send location to the gps that is far away. I wish I can just copy paste address from google and be able to send it to the app. Because of this reason I might upgrade my car entertainment system to apple carplay.

Bluetooth connected to iPhone but link and notifications will not connect I can see my contacts, location and weather. Deleted app and redownloaded. No luck.

If you have an older device like me (DriveSmart 61...which isn't all that old and was expensive as well) then you are out of luck. Garmin has not updated this app because they want you to buy a newer GPS that supports the newer services and the new app Garmin Drive. Terrible customer service.

Garmin has abandoned this app. No updates and it no longer works at all. Terrible support.

The app needs some updates done 3 years is along time to go without updating . It’s tech needs more attention. I keep losing connection an have to restart app it’s kinda hard when driving 18

This app is complete garbage. I can not find any use at all for it. I just opened my brand new Garmin Drive 55 GPS and although this is my 3rd Garmin GPS in the last 10 years, I continue to be underwhelmed by how behind they are in technology. It almost seems as if they are going backwards. Example: My new GPS has Bluetooth to communicate with my phone and associated Garmin apps. This app allows you to pull up contacts. You’d think that by now, Garmin would be able to make that easy for the user to pull a phone contact address to the GPS, but nooooo… You have to go to the “contacts” are in the app you have to open first, then it comes up and gives you a choice of whether you want to use the person’s “home” address, for example, or “other” address. But you can’t actually see those addresses until you commit to which one you want! So you find you picked the wrong address. Guess what? You have to start ALL OVER and type the person’s name in to again see if you guess the right field. I wrote software for about 20 years before retiring and changing careers. I’ve seen few apps more poor than this one. Instant delete from my phone.

Still trash. Figured I’d re download after new phone and you can’t even get the keyboard to show to pair. Simplest thing that doesn’t exists. It should be pulled from the App Store.

As of 2023, this app works flawlessly between my nuvi 2597 and my fully updated iPhone 12. I’m not sure why so many people are having connectivity issues. Inspire if it not being updated in many years, it obviously still recurves traffic and wether data from some old and faithful Garmin server somewhere lol. Traffic and weather are reasonably accurate

Got the GarminDezl gps. It is couple years old but everything was working fine. I haven’t used it in a while. Can’t get the smart link app to connect to my gps. I’ve deleted and redownloaded the app and reconnected the Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connection on both the phone and gps and still nothing. Says it’s not connected but my phone and gps both show it’s connected.

The icon appears on the apps screen in the 2595LMT. I installed the app on my iPhone 12 Pro Max. After Bluetooth is paired and the Garmin unit shows it connected, the app on the iPhone ( Smartphone Link) indicates it is not connected. I clicked the help link that appears in the message but it is a dead link. Very frustrating. I wish Garmin would help with this issue. I find Garmin equipment in aircraft is top notch but unreliable as far as automotive is concerned.
